A quiet guide back to your breath
BreathZen guides breathing practice without spoken instructions on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. If something is unclear or does not work as expected, write to us — every message is read.
App Store ↗Common questions
How does the breathing guide work?
Distinct, nonverbal inhale and exhale sounds follow each phase duration. Holds and rests remain silent. The sound adapts to built-in and custom patterns instead of looping a short recording. Turn on Phase Chimes for a soft bell at each phase change.
Can practice continue with the screen locked?
On iPhone and iPad, turn on Breathing Guide or Phase Chimes in Settings before you start. With sound on, the practice keeps going when you lock the screen or switch apps, and Lock Screen controls can pause or resume it. With both off, the practice pauses when you leave the app. On Mac, keep the app running; practice may be interrupted when the computer sleeps. Press Space to start, pause, or resume, and click End to finish.
What is included in Custom Breathing?
Adjust inhale, hold, exhale, and rest in half-second steps, up to a minute each. Editing, animation previews, and audio previews are free. One non-consumable purchase unlocks saving unlimited custom patterns. It is not a subscription.
How do I restore my purchase?
Open Settings and choose Restore Purchase at the bottom, or use Restore Purchase on the purchase screen. Use the same Apple Account as the original purchase. If the feature is already unlocked, Settings shows the unlocked status instead.
I saved custom patterns before version 3.0. Do I need to pay?
No. If a custom pattern from an earlier version is already stored on that device, BreathZen permanently unlocks the feature there.
What does Apple Health access do?
On supported devices, it is optional and write-only. With your permission, completed practice is saved as a mindful session. BreathZen does not read Health data. This integration is unavailable on Mac.
Platforms and system requirements
